Covid 19 Escape Rooms Safety Precautions

Customer Safety Guidance

The health and safety of our customers remains our top priority, especially during these uncertain times. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created numerous challenges for the escape room industry and enthusiasts, but the rewards outweigh the risks when the right safety measures are in place.

Even before the pandemic hit, escape rooms had high standards for cleanliness. Now, many escape room brands are going above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of their employees and guests. We're tracking these efforts by denoting a safety rating to each experience based on the existing and additional measures taken by the brand.

The ratings are determined by conducting an audit of an escape room brand's corporate communications and website, as well as directly communicating with the owners and operators of these various venues. Below is a list of the ratings including the various protocols being taken by escape room brands.

Meets CDC Guidelines

The minimum safety requirements dictated by the CDC:

  • Disinfecting: Game and common areas such as lobbies, locker rooms, and restrooms are disinfected after each game.
  • Private Experiences: Venues only offer private games to ensure safety.
  • Social Distancing: A distance of six feet is maintained by employees and guests at all times.
  • Masks: Wearing masks at all times is required.

Exceeds CDC Guidelines

Some escape rooms go beyond the mandated requirements and take additional safety precautions such as:

  • Prior Reservation: Walk-ins are prohibited. All reservations must be made in advance.
  • Hand Sanitizers: Venues have abundant hand sanitizers available to ensure players' safety.
  • Increased Time: More time is factored in between game sessions so that additional cleanliness measures can be taken.
  • Employee Health Check: Daily monitoring of employees' health.
  • Game Adjustments: Game experiences have been altered and updated to reduce contact and touch-based elements.
  • Contactless Check-in: Online waivers ensure that guests don't need to make direct contact with employees during check-in.

We care about your experience and safety. Since many companies are constantly updating their safety protocols, we recommend that you check with the escape room directly before finalizing your plans. You can also share your personal experiences and help other enthusiasts make an informed decision.

Escape. Have fun. Stay safe. We'll do our part to help!
